Why Choose Hand-made
So why choose hand-made, when selecting your roman blinds and curtains your budget of course will have an outcome on your final decision. Hand-made is not the cheapest option so understandably not everyone can afford this luxury. This is where high street stores step in as these stores offer cheap affordable options as more times than not they are made overseas in factories for speed and reduced labour costs. They are also readily available on the shelf or quickly ordered online, which is ideal for a quick fix.

However, you will be limited on fabric choices, linings will normally be cotton or blackout, and curtains will typically be machined with tape headers and are made to set sizes. Factories are not made for finer details like different thread tensions, adding weighted hems, specific measurements on your header, increasing the double pinch by 2 cm, adding trims, or fancy headers, the list goes on, and please don’t start me on the of hundreds of needle holes in every fold on a roman blind, you've paid for beautiful fabric why have holes all across it!!

Companies that offer made-to-measure, give you more of a bespoke item, they will offer interlinings and possibly a wider range of fabrics to choose from. You will send over the exact measurements, meaning you will have a more tailored fit. However, these too will be mainly machined, and then a part will be “hand finished” as they like to call it, which is a long way off fully hand-made.
Fully hand-made is where KE Interiors sit, the best way I’ve heard it explained is like buying a made-to-measure suit or dress. There’s nothing wrong with the high street, it does the job but standing next to a made-to-measure outfit is where you see the difference. The way the fabric drapes and hangs on the body, hugging all the right places fitting perfectly enhancing your figure will make you look and feel a million dollars!

Most of the work where possible is hand sewn, meaning all of the side seams, interlinings, linings, and hems are all seamlessly crafted with care and attention to detail meaning your curtains or roman blinds will last a lifetime. There are however times when I do have to jump onto the sewing machine, this is always for added strength where needed in the metres of joins, pleated header, or sewing velcro to the top of a roman blind before hand finishing them.
As a craftswoman, it’s knowing which tools to use and when to use them to accomplish truly bespoke curtains and roman blinds.
